Tough decision to make with my 6er...and my 5er...

Ok. So I'm forced into making this decision right about now...

I've got a reliable daily driver right now. I have a 1995 525i sitting in my driveway with a blown head gasket...

I've also got a 1985 635CSi that hasn't run in over 5 years. She's sitting there rusting away with a blown auto trans.

One of these cars needs to go in order to pay for the repairs on the other one. I love my 6er, but unfortunately I can't see that one being fixed before the 5 series as it's going to require alot more time and money to get back on the road.

So heres my question. The 635... is anyone interested in one that doesn't run... has a bad brake booster and fried A-Clutch (the auto trans glitch with high revs in park or neutral)?

My other question is, anyone interested in a part out? I'm not starting one officially until I see if there is actually a demand for parts and people who still have this car. I'd love to see her back on the road but if she can help some other 6ers keep going I'd be willing to accept that eventuality at this point.

Heres some pics for the hell of it. Still have no idea what to do with this... suggestions welcome.

I agree with teh Prof, nice old beast...shame she doesn't run, and that I don't have the funding, or room to do anything with a great machine like that.

DAY-UM that sixer is sooo PURDY!! Alpine, I'm surprised you don't want the reclaimation project or parts for your Sixer! The Six is certainly the rarer car than the 525 I'd think, so definitely investigate the web fully along with some local tuners before you go and do anything rash...

Good luck with them and I hope you can save the six!

Yeah I love this car, but it's just far too much work to get into at this point in my life.... and she isn't getting any younger. I remember when alpine was starting his project a while back... Guess i'll have to poke around here and see how that's going.

Honestly though, I'm basically looking to get around $1200 out of it. Which I know is more than she's worth in the current condition. But that's what the 5 series is gonna need at this point... I'd rather have another reliable daily driver than a really really badass toy (which is what the 6er would be to me)

Also posted on bigcoupe... I believe I'm going to go through with the part out if theres a little bit more interest, in which case I'll make a post in the for sale section and link to it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles and I would love to take that 6 off your hands but I'm a college kid who just blew a differential on his E39. Needless to say any cash I had saved just went out the door for a new diff. I know the pain.

Alpine.... you've got a 5speed trans for this car? What year is yours? Is it the 280 dogleg or the 265 with overdrive? is your trans the electronic or the hydraulic? Then all i'd have to find is a master/slave cyl., clutch lines, shifter and crossmember.

PM me if you're serious. Freight will be a bitch but I might just do that.
