On my 1993, 740IL 173K miles:
1st a hose came off my Auxillary Water Pump. There is barely enough plastic tube to put the hose back on, I suspect previous owner did not want to drop $143 on a new one. Hopefully it will stay.
2nd went to top off the tank since 93 octane became available again in my area...North MS, Memphis, TN. I believe I picked up some garbage from the stations holding tank. I get up Monday to come to work and the car is sputtering...check engine light is on... obviously runs like crap.
I'm going to Autozone to pick up 2 fuel filters and a can of Sea Foam. The first of a $50 hope it works trip...Does this sound like the way to go?
while your there get your codes read! then post them!Thx

Autozone said my '93 is too old for diagnostic. Man, she sputtered all the way there and still ran better than most cars around me! I did put some Sea Foam in it and am holding out all hope it is not serious. I'm going to check a couple of places in Memphis for a diagnostic.
yeah we'll need to codes to help you sry forgot you were OBDI Not OBDII

Engine light went out. Running tons better. Never heard of S-Foam until yesterday in this forum...but it works. I will have mech that replaced d-shaft flex joint pop the filters in as its raining buckets here and can't driveway repair. oh yeah, i'm sucha newby what is OBDI Not OBDII? Sincerely broke as a joke..BigT
OBDI and OBDII are only the diagnostic ports which they plug in, ones round and ones rectangle, normally OBDI will be found in the engine bay, OBDII normally in the car, as for them saying your car is to old total Rubbish, I do diagnostics here in the UK back to cars from 1990 with OBDI so Im not sure what they are on about. If you have the port under the hood you can do it, that simple.

I stepped in a plate of Pasta the other day - now I have to worry about my Carbonara footprint!
Thanks for the info. I believe they just did not want to bother with me as it was almost closing time. FYI..my '93 looks just like yours. So may I say you have a stunning ride!
