I have a 98 740IL with 111,500 miles on it and it just started smoking real bad at startup. It will not do it after the first 10 to 15 seconds and doesn't seem to burn any oil. I thought I might have a bad plug but replaced them all and it still does it. It also just started idleing a little rough. Just slightly though. Does anybody know what may be the problem??
Sounds like you may have a cracked/worn head gasket. At statrup the gasket expands from the heat which would cause the leak to stop. Check with your mechanic and look at any fault codes that it sends out. Good luck...
