How does the shiftronic (if that is what BMW calls it) work with the normal "2 3 4 D N P R" and the sliding button right next to the shifter that says "A / M", does it make the car shift firmer? or does it let the driver "tap shift"? sorry if this is a dumb question, i dont know too much about BMW's
A/M switch- Set switch to M mode and shift lever to whichever gear you wish (4/3/2): trans will not go into any other gear - unless it would result in over-reved engine speed, wherein it shifts up.
Steptronic- allows you to manually upshift/downshift gears...just like a manual

The Shiftronic system on the BMW looks quite interesting. When you shift it towards the M mode, and you accelerate, even if you dont manually push it forward, the car will automatically shift. Is there a way to prevent the engine from shifting itself to the next gear? Cause I'm just lost
