Front struts are starting to leak on my 1999 E38. Since retiring I don't drive as often but am concerned about tire damage and ride quality. I have narrowed down my choice to Meyle or Sachs struts without EDC and stock suspension. Meyle struts are about half the price of the Sachs struts. Anybody have any experience with Meyle struts. I know Sachs are made in Germany but have no idea where Meyle struts are made. Can somebody shed some light and advice on this subject. Thanks
Meyle struts are also made in germany. both companies provide good products in my opinion. in my experience you get what you pay for. what i would say is that the sachs struts will probably last longer. if your not concerned about that though i would go with the meyle struts.

After some investigation and discussion with Meyle CS I found that they are made in China and Meyle is only a supplier. As you noted they are acceptable if I only keep the car for a couple of years. Got some choices to make now for the long haul....
Oh wow. I'm sorry for this misinformation. I always thought they were German.

Sachs are the OEM strut found on the car. If you want to maintain the ride quality then i would go with Sachs. Numerous people have bought Meyle products and been happy with them. Yes, they are made in China but they are made for BMWs. They make control arms and such as well. They are an affordable option but obviously may not last as long. If your worried about cost the Meyle struts should be sufficient.
