Radio replacement for 2001 740il - BMW Forum

Has anyone found a great updated radio replacement for a 2001 740il? I would like to upgrade mine and add a touch screen, bluetooth, nav, and so on. If anyone has replaced theres and it works proplerly with the 740, please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks Vader for the info. I have been diving into this research because I would like to keep my dsp amp and all original speakers. I have found on Alibaba.com some manufactures claiming that their units will work with DSP. I am not sure that I can trust them or not. There is also one unit on ebay that claims to work with dsp but not air conditioner. I dont know what that means.

I would be skeptical of anyone that said will work with DSP and not the air conditioner. That's not right. I know on the E36 the factory 6 disc changer will not work with an aftermarket head unit. But you can connect a DICE iPod integration kit into the plug from the 6 disc changer.

I read over your link for e38 after market radio installation and by some of the comments they suggest that I am screwed if I have DSP. That post was written over 2 years ago and I would like to think that there has been some updates since then. Brettski found one Dinodirect.com that claims to interface with the DSP and Air. But I am still cautious about forking out that kind of money without knowing 100% of quality and compatability.

I totally understand. It's hard to know what will fit. BMW used proprietary systems so people wouldn't knock off their technology.
