I have a 98 740IL. I reset the lights exactly like it says with the 7 and 19 pin for 12 seconds. The lights reset but now the car misses real bad. THe mechanic says the sensor in the back of the engine that lets air into the engine to keep the engine pressure correct is bad.. Basically oil is being shoved up into the top end and into the cyliners which causes it to burn oil... Has anyone heard of this? If so Is it easy to fix myself?
Sounds like a PCV valve issue, go to roadfly.com and then to the correct board for your car, register (it is free) and search or post your issue and I bet someone can answer the question.
Bah! Why go to roadfly when the answers are right here!!!!! Search our archives, you will find this topic has been covered before right here. Basically your mechanic is telling you that your PCV plate is faulty and needs to be replaced. This is somewhat common on the BMW v8 engines. Check with him to make sure it doesnt need intake manifold gaskets replaced as well. It usually does. I dont see how this could have anything to do with you resetting your lights, prob just a coincidence. If you have any more questions let me know.
