I was looking at used bmw's for sale in the are and I come across a 82 745 Turbo

it's 2500... is that too much or too little... says interior is good, exterior fair and it's got low miles

i'd pull the dip stick look at the oil color
run a compression check if possible
let her warm up and idle listen for noise
and take it for a ride and if you cant feel it shift...it sounds like its a winner

Also check the cooling system, look for any fresh fluids underneath where the car was parked, and make sure you take a good long ride and feel out the tranny, if it whines or slips at all, or changes gears rough, it might have been abused and is going to crap out.
