Power Window Trouble

I own a 1999 740il the passenger front window went down half way and now it wont go up or down. please help

You need to fit a new acutator.

UHH,what's a acutator?

Its the electronic module that controls the up and down movement of the window.

There is another poss that the winder has failed, to be sure take off the door card and have a look, while the card is off press the button and see what happens and report back.

this is my first bimmer, where exactly is the acutator located, and the door card. whats ur time difference from me?

Hi, I just purchased a "cherry" 99 750 iL with low miles (78K), and took it to a local Bimmer specialist who informed me that the rear driver's side window "regulator" is going, and that one day soon, it might get stuck open. I suspect that "regulator" is the US equivalent term of the "actuator." The estimate to replace it was $USD 580! I looked up the part & it costs about $75. Is the replacement so involved that over $500 for labor is fair?

Sorry missed this, no its not the actuator, the regulator is part of the window mechanism and yes you can DIY.
