Hey Guys,
I have 2001 740il, power steering is acting wierd. Reduced power assistance, it is steerable but not getting enough boost to turn with one hand or fingers. Reservior has plenty fluid in it, I have noticed over the past 6 months that it sometimes would do this if I started the car and rushed into gear and turning before the pump could build up pressure or something. I would just stop and restart the car and wait 4 or 5 seconds and it would be OK.
Any ideas where to start looking????

Does it happen when you turn in both directions?

Yes it happens turning both directions, its like the variable part of the assist is not varying, its only staying at one level of assist.
