Hello,I have a 735i from 1988,the problem is when I start it from cold it runs rough and wont idel ,sometimes the revs go up and down by it self,but once its warm its fine ,any ideas what the problem is ? Im very thankful for any comments or suggestions you may have.Kim sweden.

I suggest inspecting the plastic intake runner sections for cracks. This was the answer for the same problem on my E30 325i.

You're looking for the intake, so the large "tube" from the air filter box to the intake manifold (basically, thing on top of the engine). If there are cracks in the plastic section(s), that will need to be replaced.
