i have a 1992 7 series v-12, and it just started leaking oil badly from the front part or left side of the engine, their is no room 2 c where it is comin from and the wind is blowing it every ware, before i bring it to bmw is their a common place where they start leaking that i should check
Your car has both a upper and lower oil pan, and a gasket for each. The upper is prone (over time) to develop leaks and that upper gasket is a beeatch to replace I know as I once owned a '88 750il.
you put Stop leak in it!???!?!?!?!?!
why! run a cleaner threw it and then change the oil now!

Oil filter is in the engine compartment, drivers side (USA models). There is a black cannister that houses a paper filter of the drop in type and not a lot of oil in that cannister. You also have a cannister for the Hydraulic fluid for the rear struts (if you have LAD) and that stuff is Pentosin, the hydraulic reservoir is marked to tell you type of fluid.
