Oil Change On A 2001 X5 3.0

I just had my oil change on my x5 3.0,

My question Is.
Is it okay to use Mobil 1 10w - 30 Synthetic.

Well this question came up as i was reading the owner's Manual

It says 5w 40 or 5w 30

I live in NYC....it is okay to used the 10w-30 as the oil place did when changing my oil.

As a British BMW tech I wouldn’t use anything but what the manufacture recommends the saving on the price of oil is nothing to the cost of engine rebuilds the service interval is 15000 miles that a long way without changing oil. In the UK Castrol make SLX because of the long service interval.

As a US BMW tech, I aslo agree with bad man working. I would recomend you use what BMW recommends for that vehicle to ensure that your vehicle continues to perform as well as it should. Service interval is 15,000 miles or atleast once a year if you do not put that much mileage on the vehicle.
