Odometer Problems

hi guys help needed if possible please.
the mileage computer on my 1990 750il goes up as i should do, but
the trip counter doesnt change it stays at 0000 all the time.
also when i take the keys out the ignition the light for the odometer stays on.
is there a way to stop this or reset the odometer computer to allow the trip computer to work.
its a left hand drive motor if it makes difference

try resetting the trip od. again to 0000 even if it still is, maybe that could help, why not give it a try?

if not, I really think that a certified bmw service agent could fix that very easily, and cost almost nothing, its just a minor prob.

If the light stays on, this is a text-book example of an ignition wiring problem. It sounds weird, but usually true. See the other forums and get to a mechanic, shouldn't be too bad $ wise.

other forums report of dodgy reset button.
in that it could be sticky.
thats why the light would be staying on and that the trip is not clocking up.
makes sense i spose.
