they are unique here in the states. i have only seen one here. they are actually classfied as an E30, and i belive they had the smae drive trains as the E30 aswell.even though they are rare here in the states i think they are kinda rare everywhere i don't think many were made
It was the Z3 predesessor, and it was pretty rare. They didn't make many at all and are a good find if you actually find one on the road!
cool car though, love the doors!

they aren't dot legal and can't be made dot legal, so any found in the US are not to be driven on public access roads
My dad knows a guy in the UK that has (or had one) I love the things. but, I love the M1 more.

why aren't they DOT legal in the states? the one i saw was at a car club event for the U.S. Grand Prix a couple years ago and they drove it on the street. of course they kept as low of a profile as possible with that unique of a car so the cops weren't like all over them.
i know they were never sold here, but i assumed they could be modified if one so wished. besides, the performance isn't great, and new, it cost more than a 7 series.

the ultimate Z in my opinion is the M coupe with the S52 315 horse engine. those are a rocket . the Mroadster with the S52 is almost just as good but i thing the Mcoupe looks way better. plus if you want to auto cross it seriously you don't have to get a roll cage.
