Need some help with some 7 series problems.

Alright I recently bought 2 older 7 series ones a 1993 750il and the other is a 1985 735i. my first problem is this
  • 2 of the meter boot hoses are covered with duct tape I think thats what that is.

I bought this from Copart an Auction site. the information they listed for the car didn't show if it started or if it ran at all. But I'm guessing the engine could be done for. I just need to get some input on what could be wrong with the engine. it sold for 200 dollars but I'm either guessing the engine is gone or the transmission. also it didn't list the amount of miles on the car but when I pulled up the vin number it showed in 2004 it has about 114 thousand miles on it. or what I'm hoping the meter boots hoses just need to be replaced or the Air Mass Meters need to, and another question would I be able to use the mass meters from an 1988 750il for the 93?

My second problem I bought a 1985 735i from the same place but this car I was confident the batter was just dead. I put it back up for sale and I checked the pictures they posted for the car and all of a sudden I see a picture of the muffler laying next to the car. it was in the pictures when I purchased it but I thought nothing of it. nor did they list the muffler was detached from the car. so I wanted to know if I needed to pick it up, could I drive it for about 2-4 hours just to get it from the place its at currently to a shop here where I am to get it fixed. and does anyone have an estimate on how much it would cost to get a new one put on or the same one put on.

I don't know yet I'm heading down to san jose to pick it up on tuesday, but they didn't list if the engine started or not some times they don't list anything but the cars run some times. just need some predictions to what might be wrong with the engine.
