need some help with 740iL

I bought a 96 bmw 740iL as a project, the clutch fan had come off and tore up a bunch of stuff including:

radiator and both hoses, expansion tank, and coolant sensor wiring.

It also broke the fan shroud and chopped up the power steering lines.

I have replaced everything except the coolant temp sensor wiring, and power steering lines.

It was running before I took it apart, and now it's not giving me any love.

When I try to start it, it says "key lock in ignition".

I've searched with no real results.

what do I need to do to fix it?

Does it try to turn over at all? If not may sound funny but check the battery, maybe you left a door open, light on etc.

So what was the fix that sorted out the problem?

I traced my battery wiring, and there was a break in the ground wire close to the chassy.

A NEW PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm losing battery charge. I think the ignition has something to do with it because the fuse box under the hood has constant power, even with the key out of the ignition.

Any suggestions?

Im feeling like its the ignition switch itself has a loose tumbler or something do you have to jiggle the key at all to get the key in or trying to get it to start. Or does the key feel loose at all in the ignition. Check Autohausaz.com they are the cheapest oem beamer part distributor i have seen yet.

The tumblers are in the barrel, the switch is a separate module attached to the rear of the barrel and the contacts can become sticky causing a drain..
