Hi... my first post, this promises to be a great resource for Bimmer questions. I don't know much but will try to contribute if I spot anything that I've personally come across before.
Last year I bought a dark silver 635, 1985 with the M-series body - so it looks like an M unless you're an anorak and spot the subtle difference in badging.
It ran beautifully all summer but towards the end would struggle when starting it. It turned over and fired nicely, but it seems as if the auto choke wouldn't engage, and you'd have to keep the revs up until the engine got a bit warm, otherwise it would kill immediately.
I'm not really sure what to look at first - like, ruling out the lowest cost possibilities that I can take care of myself (moderately experienced and tooled) before taking her to shop.
Anyone got any tips on what I should look into first?
Probably the coolant sensor not kicking the Cold start injector on
