Every morning, for about 10 minutes, the TV works. Then, it just dies. BUT, all the things it displays still work, like the radio, CD changer, obc etc. You just can't see anything on the screen.
Does anybody know why this is and how I could fix it?
I dont know much about this because TV is not legal here in the US but I would suspect possibly a failing video module. What year is the car and also which navi system does it have? Mark 1 2 3 or 4? Also does it have a wide screen monitor or the smaller monitor? When you say that when it fails you just cant see the screen do you mean that the entire board monitor goes black or just the TV is not displayed? You still have radio and cd functions u mentioned but do you still get audio for the TV?
That sounds like a 97 or 98 model MKI navigation glitch. It is a fairly common issue with the Phillips Navigation system and the display module. Try unplugging your GPS disc drive and see if the issue still occurs...
Question: Does the screen ever go through a set of diagnostics and display the words "Bitte Warten" (meaning "please wait" in german)?
No diagnostic has ever appeared. It also has NO sattelite navigation. I have never tried watching TV, because the reception is very poor. It would just be nice to not have the thing fade.
