Multiple 750il problems

Alright I went to pick up that 1993 750il the car drives but the battery is totally dead the meter boot hoses need to be replaced along with the battery Definite things me and my dad know. now with the problems there was a black "thing" duno what it is but it was connected to some wires in the trunk my dad suspects it had something to do with the suspension not working( we both don't remember when and if the suspension was actually working) so I don't really know what it is and I'd like to know its on the left side of the trunk, also when you step on the gas when driving theres a loud noise like a errrnnnnnn type of sound and it doesn't stop unless you let off the gas pedal and it doesn't happen when its in reverse. he thinks the exhaust system might have gotten a hole in it when they picked the car up with a fork lift >_>....anyways that happens the last problem the gears won't shit the rpms stay at 2000 to about 2800 or so and when you put it into sports it stays at 3 but the gears never change and the rpms never go down so my guess originally was the air mass meteters went out or one of them, he also says that when you tried to accelerate it wouldn't move fast enough but he suspects again that it might be a fuel pump not working. or the transmission is gone well anyone have an Idea as to what is going on?

That's quite a list of issues. I guess a project in the making! About the suspension, does the car have automatic load leveling?

not really sure, he mentioned that it might not work while were were driving it. oh and I solved the black "thing" problem searched the part and its for the car's phone only thing left is to find out about the suspension and what the noise is and if the transmission or amm's need to be replaced.

If it has s/leveling there will be a small pipe which comes out of the front struts and rear shocks.
