Locked Glove Box

Hi, I have a 1985 635csi. For ome reason the glove box will no longer open.

I've tried it with and without the key in the glove box latch and with the latch oriented both horizontally and vertically.

I've tried lock and unlocking the car from the trunk latch.

The latch handle 'behaves' the same regardless of key position.

any ideas?

broken lever inside the lock mechanism. I dunno why BMW uses pewter material for the lever but they do, and that is what often breaks.

Only remedy is to break the latch to expose the lever and fish the latch open with a small pick.

Fortunately, a replacement latch is about $20 or so on eBay ;-) and takes about 10mins of work to remove and replace.
