There is a wind noise in interior coming from bottom right windshield area, seems like around top of dashboard area on passenger side. Sometimes it comes and goes, but is evident about 90% of the time. Any ideas what this may be are appreciated? It is a 2001 740i.
Wind noise coming from the outside? or is it the blower?
I believe that's the fan blowing air. As you driver faster, the speed of the fan increases.
I have noticed that on my 540. Other members have questioned this as well. It's one of those things... I think it has to do with the automatic climate control.
Check the firewall for any missing or loose plugs from the engine compartment side. Also, check your windshield especially the corners. Do you have any water leaks? Pour some cold water around it and see if you find anything unusual. Check for condensation as well.
Could not find any missing/loose plugs. No water leaks. Windshield seals tight and no cracks. Noticed the other day while driving with the A/C on,
if I turned up the fan speed on the passenger side, the noise got louder. When
I turned up the fan speed on the left interior, the noise did not increase. Any possible clues? I really appreciate your help.
The fan maybe struggling to pull air in, when did you last change the pollen filters, also make sure that the plastic arm under the bonnet that opens the air flap when you close the hasnt broken off or bent.
