installed new front pads and sensors and need help
This is my first post on this site so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed. I just installed the front pads and sensors in my 2003 745Li and now I need to reset the brake light on my dash. I don't have a computer or software to do so but I understand there is a way through the dash to do this. If anyone has the process it would be helpful. Thanks for any help you can give me.
1)PRESS the RESET button on the top left side of instrument cluster for 10 secs or more...
** this brings you to RESET MODE
2) a 4 line menu will appear on your speedometer:
Top Line= "back" function
Next lines= the maintainance items sorted by priority(it may also indicate remaining time(possibly with a minus sign)
** the "!" symbol means u can reset the service; while the "0" means u cannot reset
3) scroll through service and maintainance items by pressing the RESET button or the FAS button on the turn/highbeam switch
4) when u have selected an item on the menu, PRESS RESET button a few seconds until a 2-line menu displays on your tachometer
5) Go back to looking at the speedo menu... using RESET button select the service item you want and PRESS and HOLD DOWN RESET button a few secs
6) The 3rd line menu will indicate if you did the reset successfully...
You're the man! Just brought the laptop in the car and went through your steps. Worked like a charm. The only difference is that I did need to have the car running for the brake reset. Tried it with just the electronics on and couldn't get it to work. Thanks for your wonderful info. Not a bad first post result. You've done your good deed for the day.
