I have a friend with a '91 850i which recently started to display "check brake linings" on the computer display. According we did exactly that and replaced pads front and rear but the warning is still displayed exactly the same.
My question is do we need to do something to reset the computer or is it something as simple as needing to clean the paint off the pads in the grove where the sensor fits?
did you replace the sensors on the pads too? if it tells you that you need new pads, and you only replace the pads, not the sensors, you will have to deal with the light
