Help please with 2000 740

I'm pulling cel 1522 which says stuck vanos. Anyone have any idea what symptoms I would see with this ? The car starts and idles fine but when driving there is an obvious lack of power and when the pedal is floored the car will downshift and the engine revs but it will not change into the cext gear until you let off the pedal slightly.
Could a faulty MAF cause these problems ? Could wrong oil type cause this..In desperate need of help

When you start it up does it have a slight rattle noise at the front of the engine ?, If it was the MAF it would have thrown a code for the MAF, If the vanos is at fault it is possible for the DME to go in to Limp Mode so this will affect gear change.

No rattle at startup. Throws the P1522 which is bmw 105 I believe. Vanos stuck. What happens when the DME goes to limp mode ? How would one repair this ? thanks for the info

My code sheet denotes P1522 as being ' "A" camshaft position sensor Bank 2', if you have no noise at the front..it dosent sound like its the vanos.

"A" = intake, "B" = exhaust

Really, I guess when I searched it must not have been for the year 2000. Or not for th 740 specifically. So if the code is for cps I could just swap them and see if the problem follows ?

Oh! you mean swap "A" bank 1 for bank 2, yes no reason why not then you should get P1519 for bank 1, I think they are the same, Ive only changed one on mine, so you will have to remove them and examine them thoroughly... as for codes years Oct 1999 up to 2001 are the same with double vanos, Sept 1997 to Oct 99 single vanos, 1994 to 1997 No vanos. but nearly all the codes apart from vanos and a few minor items are the same through the series.

I guess I'll try swapping them. Already swapped the vanos solenoid, same error.
