Help! My 740i Is Dripping

Hi Everyone!

My 99 740i displayed the "Check Coolant Level". I stopped immediately and the engine was steaming. It has never overheated. I kept adding water/antifreeze every time before driving it.. (1 - 2 liters). When I got a chance to put it on a lift, I discovered where it was leaking/dripping from.. Right in the miiddle. behind the gear box. I was hinted it might be heater core leak?! Radioator was reaplced less than 10k miles ago. Anyone else concurs? I have to put it on a lift again and inspect fully (as I did not get a chance to do that). Anyone else experience the same problem? Here is a poor quality shot from my C-phone. (Those are front wheels)

I think for a heater core you better off checking leaks from above if you can see those small hoses going into the firewall check them for leaks anyway.

If the coolant is coming from inside the transmission bell housing then you may have a "belly pan" leaking. This is the cover to a coolant channel which runs along the top of the block. Unfortunately to replace the belly pan the intake manifold must be removed.

Not sure if this is the type of leak you are describing but if not its something else to check.
