Getting an old Freind Up and Running! (e23 7 series)

This is a post to help me get my old Seven series running up to speed again. It has sat in storage for 3 years, and was in need of some TLC when it went there. Anyone have suggestions of what to change out immediately on these old BMW flagships? Remember, less than 500 miles on it in three years! I almost have a feeling an engine rebuild might have to happen. Also, the transmission wouldn't really change gears when i brought it there (to the storage garage) and I am not sure why it was doing that either. Please help! Any suggestions by anyone dealing with older cars would be a GREAT help! Thanks!

I'd be curious how it all works out on your old 7, I have an 84 733i that I'm going thru now, mostly odd electrical quirks I've encountered. I paid $700 for the 733i and it had been parked for a couple years then.

New battery change all the oils/fluids take the sparkplugs out and soak the bores in diesel then turn the engine over by hand before trying to start it. Get it running before you condemn anything.
