German Import 735i M Series?

New guy to BMW world. In the market for an older used BMW and stumbled across a person selling what he is calling a German import M series 735i. I'm wondering if this car is actually what he says it is. He also says the car needs a new transmission, so how difficult would it be to get a transmission for a grey market car like this and what places might I try to find this part?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I’m a Brit tech and as far in twenty years I’ve never know BMW build an M powered 7 series It would have to be very cheap to even look at it

Bmw has never to date made a M 7 series. m1, 3, 5, 6, m coupe/roadster, but never 7.

He's lying to you, or he has a prototype car that never made production. But people are famous for putting M logos on their cars. Go look at all the honda "type R's" racing around the streets.

Besides not existing, it will probably never exist - just look at the ideology behind the taxonomy.
3-series = sporty
5-series = sport/luxury
7-series = luxury.
roadsters = sporty
Now why would ///Motorsport bother with a luxury car? That would be like building an ///MX. Why would ///Motorsport bother with an SUV (Although that actually has a chance of happening what with the MDX, Cayenne, bla bla bla)?
Although the prospect of an ///Mpowered 5.0 V12 makes me giggle.

One could consider the current top-range X5 4.8is to be approaching M levels. There is also the prototype X5 Le Mans, armed with a 6.0L, 700hp V-12...

If this car was an "M7," it wouldn't be referred to as an M-series 735i. I've never heard of it but I think it could be somewhat plausible being that "M package" 318ti hatchbacks exist, and they are as far from Motorsport caliber as any car BMW has made recently. "M package" 328is coupes also exist, so who knows.

What year was this 735i??? I have an E23 in storage I am fixing up, and when my dad bought it brand new back in '86 they were racing the seven series, yes racing it, in Germany. It is plausible that someone put the M6 engine of the same year in a seven series, if they did, getting a transmission will be interesting. The E23 Seven had the same block as the M6 engine, that wonderful 3.5 liter inline six!

Yup, like I said, it could be likely that an SUV will achieve that status; but that sounds to me more like a marketing ploy than any real enthusiast's dream (imo). There's a thought though - it could be some sort of weird m-technic 7-series or something? Did they make something like that?
PS - that Le Mans X5 is SHUWEET looking...

He may be confusing the engine series, M30 with the M, Motorsport version. I have never heard of a M Series 7er.
