E38 740i Parking Brake Lever Adjustment

Hi there,

Hope someone can help. The handbrake lever on my E38 740i (located by the headlight controls as opposed to by the gear lever) has recently started making a loud noise when releasing it. It also doesn't release correctly, so although the wheels have been released, the car still thinks it's on (the light on the dash remains on, therefore giving me an annoying reminder when I pull away!). It's only just started happening, and I know the brakes are fine because I had them completely replaced last month. The garage was able to make a simple adjustment last time to correct it.

My question is, does anyone know how this is done without me having to take it back to a garage.
