i have 95 740i and it was about 12 degrees today and i had a hard time closing the door, so i searched and searched and i saw what everyone was doing to get the door to close. now the door is closed and tonight i go out to grab something from my passenger door it wont open, not a big deal now i go inside to open the door and it wont open. i played with the door lock and handles inside and out, and nothing. from tjhe inside if the door is locked and i pull the handle the lock slides up as if the door is gonna open but nthing. now how do i get the door open and even if i cant get it open, i cant even remove the panel with the door closed. help me please any and everyone
Is it parked inside? As it warms up, is it working?
My '89 735iL did the same thing last summer. I tried a few different things and the one thing that finally worked was a sharp bang on the door with my fist right next to the lock. It might be worth a try.
maybe just leave it be until tomorrow or until it warms up. what part of the world are you in? If you get the chance, maybe take it somewhere where you can park it in an indoor or underground garage for a little while.
There is no key spot on the passenger side. I'm in new york also like I mentioned I think it jammed lock cause it has no resistance as is it was unlocked
sounds like the door latch is frozen in the lock position due to the cold temps....I had a similar problem with my A4 on the drivers side last winter around this time of year except once the door was unlocked I could not get it to latch closed....what I ended up having to due was pull the car into my parents garage down the street (had to do the short drive holding the door closed) and I used a heat gun to speed up the thaw process.....once I had warmed up the door internals everything worked just fine......try taking the car to an enclosed garage and let it warm up
