DIY repairs on older BMW's

Idiot ME, ignored all the common sense approach in purchasing 1988 735i. Low miles (114K) and ride that simply "hipnotized" me into this purchase. Ten days later, leaking fuel injectors, leaking hydro boost, improper working cluster board, and many small anoying troubles with the car. Facing the murderous charges by the BMW mechanic. If i decide DIY maintanance, what can i expect? Ordered CD repair manual on four CD's! Thanks!

Thanks, luckily i found local exotic car mechanic that will do it all for less than $1500 including labor. Even with that expence, still better than driving Toyota.
