Difference between Z3 Roadster and Z3 convertable?

Hello everyone, i am looking into a BMW Z3.
The years i am looking at range from 1996 to 2003.
But i have one question that i cannot figure out, There is two types of Z3 i am looking at.

There is the Z3 convertable, and the Z3 Roadster. My problem is that i do not know the difference between them. The roadster looks nicer, but is it faster?
Any year between 1996 to 2003. Any liter intake.

the two types of Z3's are the Z3 roadster (E36/7) and the Z3 coupe (E36/8). the shoe looking Z3 coupe has near perfect 50/50 weight distribution, and the Mcoupe has exact 50/50 weight distribution. although the roadsters have about 51/49 balance, the coupes are said to handle better, and the power is the same between the two for any engine (not 100% sure on the S54 Mcoupes though)

All roadsters are convertibles. Then you've got the Coupe as mentioned above.

You can get a hardtop fitted to a roadster, which actually looks good.

i think your asking about the engine the z3 convertable will have basic engines and suspension (1.9 2.3(2.5) 2.5 2.8 or 3.0)

the m roadster has the m engine in it and will have a firmer suspension and it should be faster that is all i know because i don't have one
