Dies and Won't go sometimes

I have a 1988 735i and it will spuder and not want to accelerate sometimes. It has a new maf and an idel control valve. It has good fuel preasure and will just clear up after a bit. If you turn on the defrost it will sometimes fix the problem, i guess because it is uping the idel speed. I have had this problem for about three years and nobody had been able to diagnose the problem. has any one else had this problem or know hoe to fix it. I almost think it is a vacume problem but havent been able to find the leak. Please help it makes this car a pain to drive anywhere because you don't know if it will die or not.

Sounds like a bad AFM honestly. either the actual unit or the wiring, or the pins that it connects to on the actual ECU.

but definately a AFM readout issue.

or fuel filter.
