The fault code is for a cam sensor (I beilieve it's cam sensor 1) That would make TOTAL sense because without cam sensor 1 the trans wouldn't know when to shift and the car would run like crap...check it's connection

would you know more or less where i would find this sensor? ill go out and look, but finding a sensor is like finding a needle in a hay stack on this seven
Valvecover gaskets have nothing to do with the cam...hell you can't even see the cams with the valve cover removed. Don't say anything if you can't say something smart.
(PS: I can say that until you become BMW Master Certified as well)

yeah it really was just a complete guess... i must be thinking of a different gasket then... dont really know names yet...
the damn gasket wasent sitting right, huge oil leak... and loss of oil pressure i guess is what made it run like shit... since replacing these gaskets, i can feel it have more of a throttle response... but it still sputters, thanks to my plugged cats.... those are next!

Thats kind of rude, not everybody knows everything, people just try to pitch in and help. Yes you can see the cams with the valve covers removed BTW. And are you Indeed Master Level? Not that it really matters.....
you can see the cam drive gear in the front but the cam themselves, and I was more ticked off (sorry for being rude I'm a bit PMSy and it was a long/bad day at work) Needless to say if you take the valve cover off you can't really mess with the cams themselves I think you may have been thinking head gaskets because you have to set the cams before you remove the head or you risk losing the timing and it is a PAIN to get it back without the proper equipment (not something I would suggest)
yeah now that you say head gasket im pretty sure thats what im thinking of... ive heard of a few people having to replace thiers (mostly e30's) and yeah... dont worry about being rude... i understand, we all have rough days everyonce in a while...
Yeah, but I shouldn't have taken my bad day out on you (it's not your fault after all) So, forgive? And hey, if you are ever unsure you can ALWAYS ask any of us (we all had a starting point!)
haha yeah i forgive you haha and yeah i know i can ask any of you all... what i should do is just read up on the engines and shit more before i try and start naming parts that i know what they are but i dont know they names of them hahaha
