Hello;
i have a 99 728 but i fined it a litle bit slow even if it's top speed is around 225 Km/h ( 135 miles) tasted it on the hightwaye, and i am planing on changing it fore a 96 730 V8.
- Do you think it's worth changing a 728i for a 730 with more mileage and less options ?
or buying a 740 ( even if the 740 i found isn't in a verry good chape but with a good mecanic, 2 weeks and around 3500 usd it would look brand new ???)
Do you know the wind drag differences between the cars? An older 3.0 V8 may have greater drag and end up being no faster in top speed while using a lot more fuel. A car running 225 km/h will get somewhere around (roughly) 2 to ~4 km/l depending on the car.
I LOVE my 1999 740iL mileage isn't TOO bad at all between 16 to 18 city(depend on my mood) and 22 to 28.4 highway the 28.4 was on a long trip on the highway best milage is between 45 and 60mph but better then expected mileage around 90-100mph
The car is very stable at very high speeds and has plenty of punch fastest i've gone on a straight flat clear highway in the middle of the night was 147mph according to my speedo and OBC I was KINDA racing a subi...
I've got 153,xxxmiles on my car with no real major issues you are gonna want to check the thrust arms...
99' and on cars will command a higher price tag due because the're the facelifted models

well i dont know the wind drag difference between the cars but what i am planing on if i disside on buying the 730 is to swap the 3.0 v8 for a 4.4 V8 with it's original gear box à thing that would be i litel bit difficult on the 728.....

There really isn't on i think he thought you were talkin about the E32 vs E38 with in this case there all E38's
dont bother just buy one with the 4.4L it was WAY too much work for the out come and the 740 is not THAT much more.... just get a late 90's 740 with the m62 in it and you be grinnin like a crazy man an no that grin doesn't every leave i smile ust thinking about my car i look like this right now >

the thing is i couldn't fined A 740 since in Morocco a lot of people are runing diesel engines and people tend to by small gas engines because of the price of the gallon ( 4.5 $/gallon) so v8 cars are verry rare around here.... thats why i m thinking selling my 728, get the 730 swap the engine ( i can get one from spain in 48 H ) but is it worth it ?
yes it will be worth in in these later cars there is SO much woked into the car around the engine it isn't worth it... also the 740 will come with more options normally

not the whole car but the M62 engine with its automatic gear box, the ecu, but not the wirring. but i think it should be a plug and play deal since their is no much difference between the M60 in a 730 and the M62
vanos.... i believe is different i know the swap in't plug and play...
