Can anyone help me out with instructions on how to change the oil filter in a 1994 BMW 740iL? Thanks.

The filter is an element type, not a spin-on. It's taken off from the top, in the front of the engine. The metal housing has a black top, and you need a 36mm socket to screw it off. The element is changed as well as the big o-ring on the cap. Tighten snug, the torque is on the cap, if you wish to torque it.

True. cne caution, some of these 1994s had a cannister with a plastic top and some with a metal top and the oil filter is a bit different as the hole in the center of the filter is a different size based on wheter the cannister has a plastic or metal top.
