Car - 1991 735. I was driving down the road when car just stalled on me. I think I killed fuel pump (have been driving on almost empty for a while). Anyways, I diagnosied dead fuel pump (no sound when ignition key is turned, that familiar "Pzzzzzt" for 2-3 seconds).
Changed fuel pump. It worls. i know, because when i removed fuel like from Pressure Regulator, crank the car, i see gas spewing out of FPR.
Car doesnt start till. I have my doubts - when you connect fuel pump, there are two wires, "+" and "-", and to be honest, i am not sure, if I re-connected them properly. Could that be a problem? Any advice is appreciateds, thanks a lot
Did you disconnect the battery when you replaced the pump?
I know this is going to sound strange but maybe if you disconnect the battery for a few minutes it'll solve the problem. Just a thought!
Battery was dissconected, when I was replacing pump. And, when i cranc the engine, fuel is spewing out of fel pressure regulator, so i know pump is not a problem...
As far as spark plugs, they are just replaced, but to be honest, I havent checked the spark.
Before it happened, car wasn`t misfiring, or else, so i didnt give it a second thought.... I was advised that timing belt could`ve jumped teeth, I took off calve cover looking for any signs of valve damage, or pieces of chain - nothing, everything looks like it should.
I will buy compression tool at Kragens, and will get compression measuring tool in all 6 cylinders, then I will get better picture, thanks a lot for ideas!!
