What is the difference between the 2003 model and 2004 model year?
I have the choice of a 3.0 L 2003 vs a 2.5 L 2004. They both have less than 2000 miles and besides engine and the relative convenience and premium packages, were their any changes in the 04 versus the 03???
I would lean towards the 03 with the bigger engine....
I would go 3.0L if it were me, you would be much happier with that M54B30 with double VANOS than the 2.5L you'd be surprised what a difference .5L can make...as far as 03 to 04 changes there shouldn't be any difference physically in the E85....hope this helps you out :P
but before you buy the Z4, go test drive the nissan 350Z, its the same price range. But I have heard alot of great stuff about the 350Z, from Car and Driver, Top Gear, and a friend who has one.
DO NOT even consider the 350z unless u want ur tranny in the shop more than you can drive it. I test drove them and almost signed on the dotted line till i saw the consumer reports and friends warnings who own them.. Their quick and their nice looking and they sound great but, i drive my cars hard and i would not want that 350z for anything. compared to the z4 in all around terms the 350z doesnt touch it.

i have an 04 z4 3.0.... i test drove both the 2.5 and 3.0 all i can say is for the price... you will be very dissapointed with 2.5.... dont even waste money.... buy a Trans am or something else unless ur going with 3.0..... 3.0 is a beast.... such a big dif IMO..... now as far as your que stion about changes i can answer a few .... from 03 to 04 they have integrated i believe the roadside assistance and a microphone and telephone into the car... which is cool.... there are a few other things they added like after may of 03... so even if u get an 03 if it was manufactured after may u will get updates... but go with 04 buddy.... everytime i hit the highway in mine.... i cant help but get a big grin...... but whatever you do... do not get a 350Z and the chump that said they are same price range doesn't know dick.... if im not mistaken a 350z is roughly 30 grand... the 04 3.0 i got was fully loaded with the 1500$ sports package... and that ran me exactly 51 grand.... another thing... there are 3 packages u can get... premium, convience , or sports.... i got the sport... it lowers and stiffens suspension... makes the steering more direct, raises shift points when your not using the clutchless manual, steptronic shifting shit..... and whatever you do get the 18 inch wheel package.... best thing i can say is go test drive a 3.0 witha sports package then go test drive a 350z and then come back here so i can congratulate you and buying your new Z4
btw another thing... 325 baby is right.... you should read up on the 3.0 double VANOS valve system... its adjust on the fly..... its is truely a breakthrough, amazing technology if you ask me, but hey im not surprised...w e are talking about BMW here...
sorry for all the post i dont read shit slow enough so i miss shit.... forget what i said about getting the 04, i thought the 04 was the 3.0, yeah juss look at the sticker on inside of the door by the door hinges and if it was made after may of 03 you will have new updates... but even if u dont.... they are juss bullshit updates like i said, nothing major... yeah definatly get the 03 with the bigger engine.... like the dude above me said..... that .5 makes a difference like you wouldn't believe for some odd reason.... top speed on 2.5 - 136MPH top speed on 3.0 155
