I currently have a 1997 E39 523i SE but need something with a bit more leg room in the back so am looking to buy a facelift (not new) 7 series and have been looking at either a year 2000 728i or 735i but hear different stories about lack of power in the 728i, excessive fuel consumption in the 728i & 735i, excessive running costs, electrical problems etc etc so wondered if anyone out there could give me the run down on mpg (town & motorway), service costs, things to look out for, pitfalls and generally any other advice/steer on either model.
I'm after one with big (18" alloys +), full electrics pack etc etc, basically as higher spec as possible and looking to pay around 15-16K

Also, if anyone knows of a good one for sale within 50 miles of me (Brentwood Essex) please let me know. Thanks.
