Brake Light On!! - BMW Forum

Im having problems with the brake light in the dash of my 02 745Li, it's allways on!! and a ( replace rear brake linings) message in the display. I changed the brakes and the sensors not at the dealer and the light remains lit any help will be greatly apretiated before i take it to the dealer.

i think you have to go in through the i-drive and reset the light. not 100% positive but i think that what has to be done. and if you didn't use BMW parts that might be a problem too. or maybe your other pads need replaced???? or did you already do all 4 wheels. also check your owner's manual for any instructions.

you have to go to the dealer to have the light reset. it's not available through i-drive

the 02 7's had a lot of problems, my neighbor had to give back his 2002 745i because the computer kept crapping out.

you can reset the light yourself. put the key in and they press the start button with your foot OFF the brake. that puts the car in accessory mode. now hold the left button on the gauge cluster. hold it until you see stuff like Engine Oil, Rear Brakes, Front Brakes and so on. let go of the button and then press it how ever many times till the light you want to reset is highlighted. once it is highlighted hold the button down for 5 seconds till on the right cluster you will see Reset? and Back. Let go and press the button again till the light is reset.
