Hi guys, my temp gauge rises occasionally when im driving. It never goes near the red and always returns to centre position after a few minutes. Now before you start with any ideas i should add that the radiator, rad cap, water pump, thermostat, viscous fan etc have all been changed! I have even skimmed the cylinder heads and has all new gaskets everywhere! The system has been bled also. Iam a member of the UK Forum and we are out of ideas there! My local garage and local BMW Specialist cannot diagnose the fault either. There are no fault codes when plugged into the computer. During the summer here it seemed to behave but now the temperature has fallen with winter coming in the gauge is playing up again. If anyone has any ideas on this then i would be extremely grateful as i now feel like selling the car even though i love my 8 series! She is not losing any water either! Many thanks, Peter
Not sure exactly on the V8's, but on the I6's the temperature sensor is in the Head. You probably have two. I would double check Welcome, BMW fans! and take a look at the part diagrams just to make sure. If the sensor is bad the gauage could act erracticly even though the system is functioning normally.
Bled the system lastnight, first thing i have noticed is the rise in temperature coming through my vents inside the car so i must have done something right! I will keep an eye on the gauge and the water levels etc over the next while and post my results up. Thanks for the response Lord Vader.
At this point, car runs in a faster position which need full concentration of all the mechanical parts because they are moving in a super fast rates.
temperature is going to increase.
