I'm trying to decide on which new Beemer to get... I have a 3 series now which I love, but we're planning to add another little one to the family, so want to upgrade to a new car. The new 5 series is very cool, although a bit spartan on the inside, but very sexy and sporty. The 7 series is a car to grow into, with lots of room, plenty of gadgets and still lots of power and oomph when you need it.
I'm in my mid-40's with a young family and am not sure if the 7 series is simply "too old" for me. What do you all think??
my opinion, get X5! that`s a sporty family car or perhaps all condition. If u stick on 5 or 7 series, i would tell u to get 5 series...perhaps i think it`s easier to resell it rather than 7 series...
Ok, I have had a 5 and there is sooo much more room in the back of the 740 il I have now. Even if you dont get the il or li get the 7! For a family car the 7 will be the one!
BTW I bet if she talked you into one there will be more :P
it also depends on where you live if you tend to have really bad weather or any kind of snow neither are good because or the rear wheel drive (i really with they had awd) if you live in texas or somthing where its nice weather go for it but like if you live i vermont me get the x5 or some other car.
We have both the 2004 models, X5, 4.8, and the 545i. I would hate to have to decide which one I like the best, as both are super machines. My wife drives the 545 and I the X5 on a day to day basis. Week ends I try to get the 545 (when she will let me.)

I know what that's like....every time we get a 04 4.8...they dissappear...I'm seeing it one week...and gone the next....
Yeah, the 545i is awesome!....what color is yours?
Good question with no good answers. I have a 1988 750 and it is really big, married daughter has a 530ia and not so big. You can buy a used 735ia with lots of interior room and good trunk space with decent fuel economy, or, a 740i (the il is nice but those rear struts are really pricey when they go south) and still get good fuel economy with excellent room (avoid the 1994-1995 due to Nikasil issues). The 5 series has a more compact interior, still has adequate trunk space, and decent fuel economy. Go sit in a drive them all and that should help with the decision.
BMWLotAttend. Both of ours are silver. We took delivery at the performance center in SC (at different times), and it was remarkable experiencing the "drivability" of both these cars. Anybody in North America planning of buying a new BMW, I highly recommend taking delivery at the performance center. ZZ
