| ASC light with Trans problem (hand-in-hand?) 1997 740iL:
Water pump replaced by not-so-BMW shop (as an emergency fix, wife's car, I had no time). Returned from shop with ASC light on and a transmission issue.
Symptoms:
1: ASC light on regardless of engine running or not. Switch has no effect.
2: Transmission "slams" into gear when put into any forward driving gear. Reverse feels "normal." Trans will not shift (at all) into any other gear when in "A"; trans shifts fine when "M" is engaged and shift by hand.
Car has 117k on the clock and in otherwise "fair" shape.
Question to you all is that is there some harness, wiring that could have been disconnected/frayed/damaged near the front of engine that the shop didn't reconnect/notice/fix that be causing the issue? It seems to be a DSC(?) issue?
Thanks in advance,
