i have a 1990 735il with 140,000 miles. seems that the air conditioning unit needs recharging. i've been told these might contain propane instead of freon. is this true? do they make kits to recharge these or is this going to cost me the big bucks to have a new unit installed? your assistance is appreciated.
Your system should (unless some yahoo got creative)contain FREON-R12. The system is rechargeable at a hefty cost as R12 is now on the endangered species list. If rechargeing her, I would have some dye added so through the use of black light and UV goggles you can see where she MAY be leaking.
