| friend of mine is a dealer that specializes in used mercedes and bmw. hes been trying to get me a deal on a 3 or 5 series, but theyre really popular right now so theyre all going for market value, no real good deals.
thursday he bought a 2000 740il at auction and hes giving me first crack at it.
has a clean florida title, but im not sure if it had any minor accidents.
black exterior and tan interior, 59K on it, fully loaded with navigation, moonroof, etc.
interior is in almost perfect shape, no visible flaws.
exterior in great shape, has 2 very minor dings, dont see any obvious signs of repair.
engine runs very smooth, very quiet at idle and even at full throttle, this baby gets up and MOVES after 3500rpm, for such a heavy car i was impressed.
brakes are good, dont feel as powerful as the 3 and 5series that i have driven, but i attribute that to the extra 1000lbs. might have to upgrade pads i guess.
the bank said NADA loan value is $29k+
he will sell it to me for $22k
if i dont buy it, itll go on his lot for $25k
i see this guy every day almost, and i doubt he would sell me a problem car, cause he knows hed have to deal with me.
if i buy, i plan on taking it to my local BMW dealer for inspectionII (im assuming it hasnt been done, will have to track down history of car, wanst in glove box). so im assuming another $500-1500 in cost.
i aleady submitted paperwork for approval on the car, will find out monday.
should i go for it?
*EDIT, forgot to mention, the bmw manual in the glovebox showed that the previous owner had a warranty until 6/05, or 100k (im assuming whichever comes first) so i would still have 2 months of warranty.
