95 740iL won't shift in automatic mode

My BMW 740iL won't shift gears in automatic mode. I can manually shift through the gears fine in Manual mode, but it just stays in low gear in auto mode. My friend said it started doing that when he went over a speed bump and scraped the chassis???

dont think scrapping the chasis would do that. unless you hit very hard.

how many miles on the car? Has the tranny always shifted smooth?

does it go into reverse easily?

has the tranny fluid ever been changed?

Have you looked underneath, check the bottom of the box is not dented in.

Clean ALL the electrical connections on the trannywith electrical connections cleaner and reconnect them....
