95 740i squeaking/squealing sound - BMW Forum

I own a 95 e38 740i and I am stuck. I have taken the car in to several BMW specialists and they have no clue whats wrong.

when I start to drive, as the speedo crosses abt 15km/h a slight squealing/squeaking sound comes out. the sound is not subject to the speed which I am travelling and does persist even after I press the brakes. Meaning the frequency of the squeals/squeaks is the same whether at 20km/h or at 60km/h.

Any suggestions where I should start?

Where from the speedo?, please be a bit more specific....

Sorry for not being clear. The sound is not coming from the speedo or from inside the car. The sounds are not speed dependent. even when i drive faser the sound is the same as when i'm driving slower.

Sounding like its the air circulation flaps opening and closing, turn off the fan and airon and see if it still does it..

Yup. the sound is still there, even after i switch of the fan and AC.

where does the squeak sound like its coming from the front or back roll down the window while driving and see if you can determine it. If its front its most likely a belt thats loose or bad or could be the power steering pump if its the back or maybe middle it could range from wheel bearings to the output shaft bearing on the back of the tranny
