Radio stopped working after going over a bump on the freeway last summer.
Could never resolve the problem since.
I played with all the settings on MID, cassette and DSP to no avail.
You can hear the music from radio or cassette if you put your ear beside the speaker but it is very faint.
CD player works well and sound good without any problems.
I decided to take apart the Philips amp and cassette radio
and resoldered all the cold joints but this did not help at all.
I also checked to see if the phone mute was ON
but it was not although the phone is not in service.
I also happened to punch in Function 5 and now it is Locked
and I don't know the 3 digit code to unlock it.
I realize the amp is a two channel DSP unit (94 Philips unit),
however, If the CD player works than 1 channel should be good
and possibly the other channel which handles the radio & cassette has failed.
Anyone can lead me on how to test this;
or any help or direction on how to resolve the faint radio sound problem.
Also looking for help on how to unlock the phone without knowing the PIN number (it bothers me that it is locked even though I don't use ithe phone).
Default numbers & no power suggested by Marti5 did not work unfortunately.
Seeing no other suggested solutions, I will revert to punching in all possible 3 digit codes.
There are only 999 combinations.
If I do 100 a day, I will find it in 10 days or less.
200 so far, 800 to go.
Most likely your Phillips DSP amp has failed. Phillips DSP's have a tendency to do that. Try to find a Loewe or Lear DSP amp online or Ebay and you should be good. I had the same problem and that solved it.
