I'm in the market for a 95 740i (or maybe a 97,98). The 95 seems to be the best bang for the buck in terms of its already the updated bodystyle and it seems to sell for around 8-11k.
This will be my 4th bmw so I'm not completely foreign to the brand, I've had a 5 before, and 2 3's, but this will be my first 7.
Is there anything I should really look out for? What are extremely expensive to replace, that i should absolutely verify work before buying? Ideas.. Thanks.

Yes, having one myself you will find out that the engine is probably made of nikasil ( i think thats how its spelled.) Look at this link before buying. I had the free leakdown test and mine passed so Its been all good so far with 90k on the odomiter.
Good luck. If you are buying from a dealer, demand that they run the test and get the compression numbers before you do anything. If I had known this before I bought I would have made them do the test.
Now that mines ok, I got a hell of a car for a hell of a deal.
