so can fluid be added.if so how

Depending on which gearbox you have, there is a different means of filling it, most of them involve getting under the car, pulling a plug bolt and adding oil through it. Some of them are counter intuitive, i.e. what looks like a drain plug is actually the base of a verticle tube that spills out as you add oil to indicate that it is full. Have a look at the Transmission pan and count how many bolts hold it to the transmission body. Let us know and we can take you further.

about 22 screws hold yhe pan,what size wrenches do i need,any help would be great..

This may be of some help Notes/Photos for changing the transmission oil and filter on 1998 E38.
Make sure its the right transmission though.

i got a 94 e32, good pics though,thanks. but i ended up squirting tranny fluid up into the drain whole,,got rverse to come back. bmw is now covererd in snow,and its to cold to work on gonna wait till spring. thanks4 all your help...
